Styling to camera.
It is important as a small biz owner to understand what the process of styling to camera looks like and what it means for the final output and orientation of your images (yes, its great to know what the images will be used for before the shoot). Armed with this knowledge, your image deliverables will be clear, you will know your limitations and the shot list can be organised to suit.
Photographing your products on a white background.
Showcasing your product on white is great for ecommerce store listings as the product is viewed with no distractions (such as props the buyer doesn’t connect with) or colour casts. A listing may include multiple views on a matching white surface that appears professional, clean and high quality.
Photographing products on a solid colour background.
Finding a complimentary colour that suits your brands style guide and the products you are selling, can be great to produce multi purpose images. A product on a solid colour is more visually pleasing on social media posts than one that is on white (amazon vibes). Therefore, it can be used as a product listing, for socials and if you add one or two props, you can have lovely minimalistic styled images.
What are styled photographs?
Styled tabletop imagery involves extensive research and planning to bring all of the elements together. In a commercial environment, they are produced as a team where a photographer, prop stylist, set designer and art director all work together to achieve a set goal for the client.
